This depends on which Units of Competency you need to have on your Statement of Attainment. Because Food Safety Supervisor requirements in Australia are industry-specific, you need to choose the Observer Report that matches your industry. Also note that accepted industries vary across Australia; we’ve included them at the bottom of this article for your reference.
We’ve listed the Units of Competency for each industry below, as well as some examples of organisations that fall under them.
Hospitality: Suitable if you work in a hotel, restaurant, bar, pub or cafe
SITXFSA005 - Use hygienic practices for food safety
SITXFSA006 - Participate in safe food handling practices
Retail: Suitable if you work in catering, a supermarket, a deli, grocer, convenience store, service station, take-away store or market stall
SIRRFSA001 - Handle food safely in a retail environment
Food Processing: Suitable if you work in airline catering, a bakery, cannery or food manufacturing business
FBPFSY1002 - Follow work procedures to maintain food safety
FBPFSY2002 - Apply food safety procedures
Health & Community: Suitable if you work in a hospital, aged care or childcare facility
Transport & Distribution: Suitable if you deliver food or work in a food storage facility
SITXFSA005 - Use hygienic practices for food safety
SITXFSA006 - Participate in safe food handling practices
The following are the only industries recognised for Food Safety Supervisor training within each state and territory:
ACT: Hospitality, Retail and Health & Community. Supermarket workers located within the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) should select the Hospitality industry to meet ACT government requirements
NSW: Hospitality and Retail
NT: Hospitality and Retail
QLD: All industries
SA: Hospitality, Retail and Health & Community
TAS: Hospitality, Retail and Health & Community
VIC: All industries
WA: Hospitality, Retail and Health & Community
